Despite rumors that they weren't taking one, Prince William and Kate Middleton have embarked on a private honeymoon, according to St. James Palace.

"They have gone [on honeymoon]," a palace rep says. "We are not confirming locations or commenting on any speculation on where they may be going for their private honeymoon, but we can confirm that they have left."

"We askfor their privacy to be respected during their honeymoon."

The Daily Mail (UK) speculates that the royal couple may have retreated to a private island in the Seychelles. Other speculated honeymoon locales have included Australia, Mustique, Jordan, Kenya and elsewhere.

One trip that's not so under wraps? Their official visit to America and Canada this summer, which will mark Kate's very first visit to the United States.

The pair's secret escape comes a week and a half after exchanging vows in a historic April 29 royal wedding ceremony at London's Westminster Abbey.

In the meantime, the couple is still basking in newlywed glow.

"For day-to-day life, they are the Cambridges," a source says of Prince William and Kate Middleton, the newly-crowned Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

"But behind closed doors they call each other Mr. and Mrs. Wales. It's cute. They'll be a very low-key couple. They want to be very down to earth."
